91% Dixie

I'm often asked where I'm from because of my (some say) strong southern accent. I really don't notice it, but everyone else seems to. That's why when my friend sent this to me I thought - "I'm going to do this and I'll have proof that I don't talk funny!". Until I took it and my score was 91% Dixie and it asked me if General Lee was my father! Hummmm.....Take it and see what you get!

Baton Rouge Dream Center

Last night was so much fun! I usually do not post with out pics, but there were so many other cameras around and the battery died on mine. Maybe you can check JP's blog or Carole's or the Serve Team. They may post about it. But we had our first Family Night at the Baton Rouge Dream Center. It was awesome. I think everyone had a great time and I know my family and I did. Big shout-out to my girl Heather for hooking me up with some solid prayer before and being right there on the front row praising God along with us. You are awesome.
Next service is in March and I'll try to have my own pics then!

CJ and I talk about God

While riding in the car the other day CJ and I had the following conversation.....
CJ: Mom, you can ask me whatever you want about God. I know everything about Him.
Me: OK. What kind of ice cream does God like?
CJ: He doesn't eat ice cream.
Me: Why not?
CJ: Because he's God! It just wouldn't look right.
Me: Ok, so what does God drive?
CJ: He doesn't! He has someone drive for Him.
Me: What is his favorite food?
CJ: Veggies. He loves all animals so he's a vegetarian.
Me: Does God go to church?
CJ: Um, God IS church!
Me: But he doesn't attend church on Sunday?
CJ: Well, sometimes, but only when he's invited.
(there's a revelation!!)
Me: What does God look like?
CJ: Like Mr. JP (Brumfield) except God doesn't work out as much as Mr. JP.
Me: Why doesn't God work out?
CJ: He doesn't need to. He has the Holy Spirit to fight his battles!
The things we learn from our children!

Great Weekend....

On Sunday, I attended church and picked up Carly from her AMAZING weekend at Amplified. She can't stop talking about it and probably blogged about it. While Carly and I were running all over town, Mike was with CJ at Deadwood. Quite an amazing time for them. You see, one of our Deadwood Marshals is actually a US Marshal! He's amazing and his wife is so awesome. He invited CJ back to shoot on Sunday and brought with him a certificate and a real badge and had CJ sworn in as a Jr. US Marshal. CJ took his oath very seriously and came home with his certificate ready for it to be framed. He wore his badge all day with extreme pride and is so excited to think that one day, he may get to meet the President of the United States in the "nobel office". Thanks, Big Daddy Jenks! You rock!

Different ways to shoot......

Today was a blast. I took my friend, the Queen, through a few "firsts". First, we dressed up like cowgirls. Then we put in ear plugs (I showed her how) safety glasses and boots. Then we went stomping through the mud without a care to play cowboys and indians. And in a good way. Our gun club was having a competition shoot and I invited my friend who is the best photographer in the world. I think she had fun and I know she took a bunch of pictures or at least she acted like she was taking pictures. Click on her blog to view them......I think she'll post some. (Queen King)

Here's a couple I took with my go-go gadget camera. The first is of Queen getting a history lesson on guns. The next is my shadow. Not sure why, just thought it was fun......

Fun with Friends

Friday evening, I took Carly to the church for Amplified. She's excited to go and I'm just glad she is able. Just as we drove up, we were met by a great friend of mine and Carly's Steel Magnolia, RaeJean. She's awesome so I took a pic......Then I ran into my police officer friend at church. He parks me on Sundays......he's awesome, too, so I took a pic.....
Then I saw my friend Melissa. She had just had blood drawn at the doctors office so I took a pic.....
My best friend Becky was there but left because there were 5,000 teenagers there. And my best friend Paula was there, but she left for just about the same reason......don't blame them. It was a little chaotic.....holy, but chaotic.

Poet's Cafe'

Today, Carly was asked by one of her teachers, to present a poem that she wrote, at the school's "Poet Cafe'". She actually recited 2! One she did with her friends Katlyn and Deva. It was a tribute to Deva's Dad. He wrote the poem and being that he is from Cuba, it was in Spanish. The girls are amazing. They did such an awesome job. Then Carly recited a poem she wrote about the freedom of speech. I'm so proud of her! She never ceases to amaze me. I love Carly.

Lyric Frenzy

This commercial has set off a lyric frenzy between Carly and me. Most of you know, that if I hear a song and don't understand what they are saying, I just make it up as I go. As in the song "Sittin on a dock in the bay"....I always sang it as "Spittin on a duck in the bay". Little things like that. There's some song that Carly likes that sounds just like they are saying "...I dream of funnel cakes". It actually says something about "I dream of your face". People just need to speak more clearly.
Anyway, this commercial came on and I said, "That's so dumb! He's not Asian. They are not even IN Asia!" Carly asked what in the world was I talking about.....I always, always thought they were saying, "Secret Asian man...." Since she explained it, it does make more sense. It's not a song about Jackie Chan, although it could be.

Fastpitch Girls

Hey Girls.

The Birds

So I'm in my kitchen, cooking dinner for my family, when I realize my worst fear is coming true. In case you don't know, I am deathly afraid of birds. Any kind. Mostly live ones, but I don't like dead ones either. Winston (our dog) is going crazy and I look out in the front yard and see what looks like leaves. I look out the front window and took this photo. It's not leaves at all. These are birds and big ones! I must have been a worm in a previous life or something. Serious "Fowl-phobia"!

How Old Are You?

Had a little awakening yesterday. While waiting on the school bus, CJ asked, "Mom, have you ever seen Spongebob Squarepants?" I answered, "Yes, of course." He said, "No, I mean......in color. 'Cause like when you were little, I'm sure it was in black and white."
WHAT? Black and White? I didn't have the heart to tell him that Spongebob didn't even exist when I was little.

Anyway, the quiz was to name all the characters. You would be glad to know I named them all except for three that I had never heard of. I think he made them up.......anyway......now that I feel old...

Typical Saturday....

Its officially softball season. Carly, again this year, will be sitting it out, but somehow I ended up coaching again. I'm sure there's a blessing in there somewhere. I'll let you know when I find it. :)

Beck's the head coach and she's got it going on, so hopefully I'll just carry bats and stuff.

Anyway, after two hours of fastpitch torture, the Ragsdales headed out for an afternoon of squirrel hunting. Typical Saturday for us at the camp. The weather was good, but it had rained early that morning, so we had some water hazards to contend with. CJ didn't mind a bit (as you can tell in the picture).
But I prefer to ride the four-wheeler. No squirrels were seen but Carly did make the only shot and only kill. Her trophy is below. She just couldn't make the trip to the camp without shooting something........I love my family!

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope today is everything you dream it to be. So far, I've celebrated with Carly and CJ, but my Valentine is long distance on business. We'll celebrate Saturday when he returns. What I love.... I love God. My family, even the weird ones, and my friends, especially the weird ones! :) CJ loves Coke. Although drinking it looks painful, he was not harmed during the filming of this video. Enjoy!

Who/what do you love?

Let's Get Creative...

Amanda had an interesting idea (see comment on previous post). As did Robyn. Amanda thinks we should make a lamp out of Big Blue. Which would be nice...reminds me of "A Christmas Story". Robyn said it would make a nice planter. Get creative. What are your thoughts? Ebay? What would you do with Big Blue?

The Big Reveal.....

Today was another big day for Carly. She got her cast off. After only two weeks, she is finally able to bend her leg. She will have to have physical therapy, but all in all she's just glad to be set free from big blue. Pics are always fun.....

Why take the elevator! Let's take the stairs.....

Don't forget to vote!

CJ's first trip to the voting booth. He loved being inside the tent while we made our "selections!" It was so "Top Secret!"

We voted. Did you?

Making the Band....

This aint no GH3 band, either! Its the real thing! My Girl Carly made the "A" Band for the big Pville Middle and will now represent her school at festival this year! What an amazing job! She's so awesome! Its incredible to see how far she's come tooting that horn thing - um Clarinet?.....Anway, she's so good at what ever she puts her heart into. Love her more than life!

(Carly plays the black shiney thing and her friend Claudia plays the gold shiney thing!)

Also, she snuck in an audition for School of Rock and was accepted for the second year in a row! How cool is that!?! She will once again be rocking the house with some awesome praise and worship and we'll be out there trying to get some decent video this time. Sorry about last years' big oops!

We are ALIVE!!!

Sorry for the delay in blogging. (although I just noticed that Beck's blog hasn't hosted a post in a while as well!) But we are back. Just so you know, this post is virus free - Flu virus that is. Yes, we got infected this weekend with the flu bug, double ear and sinus infection, and it knocked me for a loop! Woke up Sunday feeling icky, but pushed on through to sing four services and then home to the couch. Woke up Monday with the TOTAL wipe out. Then CJ came in Tuesday night to let me know he was sick - GREAT! so now he's on some super duper meds that make him feel like millions. Anyway, we are back.
HUGE shout out to my girl Paula! Thanks for the awesome Veggie Soup! My family really appreciates you and all you do for them. (me too!)
Appreciations for all those praying - Beck, Melissa, Jeri, Hope and Kel. AND Big ol' Praise God for Clorox! Keeping the rest of the house bug free so far!
So, to prove that he is healthy enough to return to school, CJ showed me his power...he must take after his Dad.....
