Cj's new favorite joke

Thanks to Mr. Kyle, CJ now has a new favorite joke that he wanted to share with our blogging friends.......enjoy.

And the Scholarship goes to.....

You see, I grew up with my Dad being one of the principal's at my high school. Like being the sheriff's daughter! But when my Dad retired, he had established such a legacy at that school that it would never be forgotten. He was amazing! A couple of years later when he died, the school set up a scholarship fund in his memory and awarded it to the student in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) that is most deserving. Over the years, the fund has grown so much that this year it was able to be awarded to four young students! That is so exciting. My sister was able to travel to the awards ceremony and present the scholarships......Here they are!

Baton Rouge Dream Center - Winbourne

This morning, the kids and I had the wonderful opportunity to serve at the first Sunday service of the Baton Rouge Dream Center. It was so much fun and so amazing! We got to see alot of the families that we would see on Tuesday nights at Family Night, but today was different! There was a difference in the attitudes. You could see joy and anticipation on everyone's faces! It was so great! Worship was incredible and Adam brought a great message. I'm looking forward to next week!

Congratulations Caitlin!

Check this out. So my sister just emailed to let me know that her oldest (my niece) just found out she made Junior Varsity Cheerleading for her high school for next year! I am so proud of her.....following right along in my cheerleading footsteps! Caitlin is so smart and beautiful! She is so awesome! Go Bulldogs!

UPDATE: Mission Mickey Mouse

Several of you have asked about the great mouse hunt, so I wanted to give out an update. Friday evening, I was watching tv and Sam was in her room. I saw our imposter run from the hallway into the dining room. Until then he stayed in the back of the house, but now it seems he was getting courageous! I ran to get my "gun" and Sam came out of her room (which is just off the kitchen) and said she saw it try to come in her room. She gasped when she saw it and it ran back out. SO, perched atop the sofa and Sam at the door to her room, we waited. Being the brave women we are, we woke CJ up and had him walking around looking. Anyway, last seen in the doorway to Sam's room, I had CJ open the door that goes out into the garage. My thought was it would go back out to where it came from......we all returned to bed and haven't seen him since, so we think that's exactly what he did. (I hope...)

Monday's in Baton Rouge

Tonight was HP Women and my girl Melissa served it up! She rocked the house with awesome praise and worship. I'm so proud of her!
Then I went upstairs to meet up with two of my favs. My Bff Beck finally got to open her birthday gift. For those of you that know her, I helped her complete her fashions for the summer by blessing her with a new pair of flip flops! (sorry Heather!)
Then I had some photo fun with my other fav.....Heather! These ladies rock and I'm so glad we are all friends........love you both!

Random Weekend...

Saturday, me, Mike and CJ went to Deadwood to clean up for a shoot next weekend. We cut grass and picked up trash just trying to get it neat for guests. Saw a huge snake and didn't tear up the lawn mower so it was a successful day for me. On our way out, we saw a turtle in the road. It just sat there, wouldn't move. Even when we got right up to it. We stopped to look at it and noticed IT was a SHE and she was laying eggs! UGH!
Then Sunday was church, BFF Beck's birthday, and the annual choir crawfish boil! A good day, but tiring....(no pics of Beck's birthday, b/c she wasn't there......)

Before and After....

Today, my bff Beck had eye surgery. She couldn't function in the mornings until she put her glasses on or put in contacts. SO, today, she gave herself an early birthday present. She had Lasik Eye Surgery. So far, a total success. While the picture looks like she's on a ski vacation, she's actually just following doctors orders and will be better than her old self in no time! Praise God for a successful surgery, and continue praying for a speedy recovery so she can get out of those goofy goggles. Love you Beck!
Also, if you refer back to my April 14 posting, you see that Brother Wayne killed a big turkey. These pics are before and after..... Random, I know.....

Mission Mickey Mouse

So, on Tuesday, I brought in an old vacuum from the garage to clean out the air vent in our house. When I went to unwrap the cord, a mouse ran out of the vacuum and into CJ's room. Knowing this thing could mate with a Chewbacca action figure, setup house and live in CJ's room for years, I'm on a mission to track it down. Mike tried, I tried, Carly tried and even little CJ tried. Sam? Not so much.
Last sighting was Tuesday night in the hallway. CJ doesn't want the mouse harmed in any way, so instead of the traditional mouse trap that you set and it smacks them in half (hopefully), we opted for the more humane trap that they crawl into and the little mousie door closes behind and they can be taken outside and set free, (or stomped - whichever!)
So I call my BDad (the exterminator) and ask what is the best thing to bait the trap. Its peanut butter! So we are all baited and this mouse wants no part. So with no sightings since Tuesday, I'm guessing the thing is long gone on its own.....until this morning. Yep, Mike spots this Mickey imposter running up under the dresser in our bedroom! He goes on to work and leaves me with the role of "sniper". SO, I'm all set up in the bedroom and sure enough, he comes out! I kept my cool like any sniper mom would and BAM! I shot at it with CJ's pump BB gun. Only to miss the mouse and wound the base board leading into the bathroom. I'm still all set up and just waiting. The photo is of my sniper setup. I'm on a mission and I'll keep you posted.......

Adoption Workshop

Adoption is so cool. I probably think so because I'm adopted, but besides all that.....so was my sister and my youngest brother. And we turned out awesome! :) (those that know me need not comment) You can't tell it from this picture, (and my sister will hate me) but this is us. We look like misfits (lol) but we are very close and really do love each other deeply! :)

From left to right: Stan, Cathy (the bride), Me and Michael
I say all this to let you know about a workshop at our church. I've not attended one yet, but hope to make this one. I recently "officially" met Aimee' but have known her children for quite some time now through children's church. Just love this family! If you cannot attend this workshop, please just pray for this ministry. Speaking for myself, adoption can be an amazing thing!

Bro. Wayne strikes!

We love Brother Wayne! He's such an awesome man in our church and Mike and I think the world of him and his family! We are blessed to call them friends. He asked Mike last week if he knew where he could go and hunt turkeys. (as if?) Then he asked if Mike could take him one day. They set it all up and met this morning before daylight to see what they could find. It didn't take long before Bro. Wayne put the smack down on an East Feliciana gobbler. According to Mike it had a 10" beard with 1-1/8" spurs. Great bird, but the real reward was Mike and Bro. Wayne getting some good quality "man" time together!

They grow up so fast!

Tonight is prom night for Samantha! Oh my, how fast they grow up! Some pics for you all to enjoy. Sam and her friend Jimmy, who is the only guy brave enough to come over when Mike is home. She may have something here.....(notice he waited until AFTER hunting season!) She's so beautiful as always and they left ready for a great prom night with words of wisdom from me....."Have fun!"......"Make good choices!".....that was the only brilliant thing I could come up with...Mike and his baby girl....growing up!

Hey, Wait! That's MY crown!

I should be the one wearing the crown. At least it's in the family. This is my second cousin, Candice Crawford (Miss Missouri 2008). She will be competing for Miss America tonight. We are proud of her!

It's Baseball Time!

Here we are. That time of year, again! Carly is out for the season from the "re-injury" to her knee. She's really bummed, but still goes and supports her friends (that happen to be on an opposing team!) BUT, my girls played Saturday night and were awesome! They really did an amazing job and we couldn't be more proud. They did not come away with a win, but with the first game under our belts, we are now ready. I do not have pics but should have some next game. CJ played today. His game on Saturday was rained out, so he played this afternoon and really did well. His team won and they were so excited. Here are highlights from his game....

CJ's first run scored. He decided to go big and slide...trip...fall?...

CJ's next run scored he remembered how hard the ground was and just decided to play it safe. But was he? He actually jumps over home plate and never touches it!

This picture is of CJ discussing a situation with the umpire, Mr. Rico. You see, it seems that the catchers mask makes it to where CJ can't see his arms, therefore, he tells Mr. Rico that he can't catch the ball because he doesn't know where his arms are....That one had the whole crowd wondering who's kid that is!

P-Finders

So, Carly gets a phone call from Ashley late Tuesday (head of the worship team for PathFinders) and Ashley's needing some help. It seems that Ashley has some important school work to do and would not be able to make it on Wednesday night! So she calls Carly to fill in for her! How exciting!?! I mean, Carly sings with the School of Rock band all the time, but this would be different. The adult band! WOW!

It just so happened that I had to sing at Highland, so I was not there to hear them but heard from a dear friend that it was AWESOME! So anyone that was there, if you have pictures or comments, I would love to see them!
