Tarp-free!

I know this picture probably is just of a house to some, but we are excited that our home is finally free of the infamous green tarp! Praise God! It's been quite a while and we finally reached an agreement and had our roof fixed. It's not exactly what we were looking to have done, but hey, it doesn't leak and it doesn't look too bad. We are thankful.

So I've been busy....

I know that everyone is busy, but I do want to apologize for my blog getting a little "stale". I was invited to help my bff Paula "paint" her living room. That's all good, because I LOVE to paint. Mike says I paint like Helen Keller with a broom, but I love it anyway. Paula is fully aware of my skills, (or lack thereof) so she solicited my help. We started last Tuesday and are still going strong. Because we are first and foremost Mom's, we only have a few hours a day to commit to the livingroom, but we are getting there. Because the walls were dark to begin with, we had to put Kilz on it. (2 coats) then plaster, (2 coats) then paint (haven't started!). Because Paula does not like heights (she's scared!) I got the job of scraping that crappy popcorn stuff off the eaves of the vaulted ceiling. I may have asbestos poisoning, but the room looks great! :)
This is the room after the Kilz....Yes, they are still living here.....just ready to get some order back....
So, we worked Tuesday and Wednesday and then Thursday I had to bail because of Cj's 3rd grade field trip to the Aquarium in New Orleans. I went back on Friday and will be back today. Cj's 3rd grade class....Cj is front (red hair) and his friend James is back row-far right (on end). He's related to the famous groundhog (Puxatawney Phil)....go figure...
This whale is awesome. The kids can climb on it and every few seconds, air blows out the blow hole. Cj didn't know, so this picture was taken just before it blew. When it did, Cj jumped off and almost wet his pants! :)Carly's at Amplified (a weekend retreat for 6th-12th graders at our church) - I'm sure she'll facebook about that all weekend. I have to sing tonight, so I'll get to see her at church. Mike and CJ are rabbit hunting this morning, so my morning is quiet, but it won't be long before I am back on a ladder in Baton Rouge. Paula's good to me, though.....she feeds me....
